Renowned writer Maria Teresa Loff F. Schwarz, born in Senegal in 1949 to Cape Verdean parents, has been awarded the AMEEA Literature Prize 2022. This prestigious prize was awarded by the Association of Women Entrepreneurs Europe and Africa and will be presented at a ceremony on November 25 at the Palácio Estoril Hotel. The award recognizes the author's outstanding professional and literary career.
Maria Teresa Schwarz's career has included positions as an employee of the Lloyd's Sotto Maior Agency in Bissau, Secretary of the Presidency of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau after the country's independence and diplomatic activities in Cuba, Senegal, and the United States. She also served in the European Union in Cape Verde and is the owner-manager of a horticulture and livestock complex in Senegal. As an author, her work "Silencio entre duas Notas" was selected for translation into French with the support of the Camões Institute and the Ministry of Culture. Maria Teresa Schwarz is currently president of the NEW FACES NEW VOICES - GUINEA-BISSAU Association, an antenna of the Graça Machel Foundation that promotes collaboration between women entrepreneurs and financial institutions.
